Recently, while in Cleveland, Ohio, I captured images of a Red-winged Blackbird perched on a fence—a striking reminder of how the universe communicates with us through symbolic frequency.

The bird I captured while visiting the beach on Lake Erie is a Red-winged Blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus). Male Red-winged Blackbirds are easily recognized by their glossy black plumage and distinctive red-and-yellow shoulder patches, known as epaulets. They are common across Ohio and are often seen perched on prominent spots like fences or wires, where they sing a raspy, musical "conk-a-ree" song.
